We feel it is important for children to develop their interests and talents outside the classroom, in order to become a more ‘rounded’ individual. A wide variety of extra-curricular activities is provided in the form of clubs, musical groups and sporting pursuits applicable to varying ages. Most of our children attend at least one activity per week whilst many have so many interests that they may have to choose when clashes occur.

Music and Drama play a vital role in the life of King’s Juniors. The Lower Junior Choir (Years 3 and 4) and the Upper Junior Choir (Years 5 and 6) perform regularly in church services and in public and frequently enter prestigious choir competitions, usually with great success. For example, King’s Junior ensembles are regularly successful at the Alderley Edge Music Festival.
Instrumentalists play in two ensembles for Wind and Brass and Strings and also perform regularly. Individual pieces are often performed in front of the whole Division during morning assemblies.
The Musical Play is a highlight of the school year when all of Year 6 are involved in the production of a musical performed in front of full houses. Former pupils of the Junior Division currently at University can often be spotted as part of the enthusiastic audience!

Year 4 children take part in their own pantomime allowing children to display their musical and dramatic talents to the full. Year 5 children also represent the school at the annual Macclesfield Primary Schools Music Festival.
During the year, King’s Juniors has its own Music Festival, attracting over 150 entries, and many children take part in our end of year concert.
Large numbers of pupils take advantage of private musical tuition whilst at school. Years 3 & 4 children are encouraged to arrange tuition outside lesson times so as not to upset their academic progress, but Years 5 & 6 pupils can take music lessons during academic periods on a rota basis.
Lunchtimes are always busy with a variety of clubs, sport or rehearsals. Clubs not already mentioned above include Science, Chess, Quiz, Maths, Trampolining, French, German, Latin, Drama and Judo as well as fun sports activities. The school enters teams for the Independent Schools Quiz and Chess competitions, providing a focus for the cerebrally inclined! In short, there will be some form of activity to cover most interests.
