We create a stimulating and exciting learning environment where girls can be challenged and developed to reach their potential.
All forms follow the same curriculum in Years 7 and 8, but setting is introduced in some core subjects. The curriculum for Year 7 continues into Year 8 with the exception of languages. Two modern languages are selected from the three studied in Year 7 i.e. French, German and Spanish.
From Year 9 onwards, girls make further choices. Pupils contitinue with their English, Mathematics, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Games, PSHE and ICT. They study two or three languages and Science is taught as separate Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Girls also choose two creative subjects selected from Art, Music, Technology and Drama.
Girls on the Enrichment Programme are able to follow a ‘fast track’ languages course to continue with two out of French, German, Spanish and Latin.
Years 10 & 11
In Year 10, GCSE courses commence. Girls select a minimum of 9 GCSE courses to be studied during years 10 and 11.
All pupils continue with Mathematics, English Language, English Literature and must study a modern foreign language (French, German or Spanish). Science can be taken as three separate subjects (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) or as 'Dual Science' that has components of all three but results in two GCSE grades instead of three.
If separate Sciences are taken, there is room for three more subjects to be studied; with Double Award science, four are possible. These choices are currently made from the following list:
Art & Design, Design & Technology, Drama, Geography, History, Latin, Music, Physical Education, Religion & Philosophy
In addition, we retain PSHE, Games and ICT in the curriculum. The ICT course leads to the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL).
