Careers advice has a high profile at King’s and its importance is clear, especially in the later stages of our pupils’ school lives.
We start as early as Year 7 via the PSHE programme, building up the provision each year. During Year 10, all students take part in a week of Work Experience which is extremely popular with the pupils. During Year 11 we focus on each pupil individually, using a personal interview to help them with their plans for Sixth Form and AS subject choices.
Sixth Form students benefit from a full careers timetable which includes presentations on topics such as ‘Where do I Start’, and ‘What and Where to Study’. Tutorial sessions provide advice on writing personal statements using the UCAS Apply system and special provision is made for Oxbridge candidates, medical and law students etc. who require interview preparation.
We have invested in two careers officers, one at each site and pupils have ready access to them, plus well stocked careers libraries and software.
